This unfortunately cancels out every time that I sat down to a meal of questionable substance and said, “we need to pray for this food because it might do me more harm than good.”
Perhaps Paul’s advice to receive everything in thanksgiving focuses mainly on the spiritual benefit of our gifts while the cholesterol and fat can still kill us!
