First “Annual” TriChurch Ascension Service a Success

The Pastor’s of the sponsoring churches

Ascension Service

Three churches, Our Savior, Trinity and Messiah came together at Our Savior in Aiea to celebrate an often overlooked but important holiday in our church year, Ascension.  Seventy people from all three churches and a few from other Oahu churches came out for food, fellowship and worship on Thursday evening.

Pastor Gowen served as the liturgist and gave the children’s message while Pastor Hazel of Trinity Wahiawa gave the meditation on the meaning of Christ’s human nature in the ascension pointing out how Jesus took his and our human nature from birth, to the cross, to the grave and into heaven so that the way is open to us through Jesus Christ.  Pastor Poock preached on the meaning of Christ’s divine nature in the ascension.  Because Jesus is God and seats at the seat of power he is able to give us the gifts of joy, mercy and peace.

Many people responded at the door with “Let’s do this again soon.”  So this may indeed be the first “annual” ascension day service.  Heads up all island churches will be sponsoring a Reformation service on October 28th – another occasion for our growth together in mission on this island.
