Youth Group Fun Night

This last Friday the youth group had its monthly fun night.  Normally they are on the last Friday of the month, but with Thanksgiving this week we decided to hold it a week early.  Taylor Gavin, Megan Fedder and myself along with 5 regular youth group members and two guests enjoyed the movie “Amazing Grace”.  The movie chronicles the career and life of William Wilberforce an abolitionist and member of the British Parliament during the 1790’s and early 1800’s.  The title is derived from the hymn of the same name, and in fact the lyrics were written by a reformed slave ship captain that later became a priest.  Beyond showing God’s hand as Wilberforce tries to pass anti-slave laws, the movie also shows the evils of slavery.  Mrs. Fedder has been educating her 5th grade religion class on modern slavery and they are currently raising money to free slaves in Africa.
