Lord God, our shepherd, You gather the lambs of Your flock into Your arms.

Lily Wuerdeman born April 4, 1920 died today at 6:30 AM, Reformation day, October 31st, 2011.   Lily was affectionately known as “Wuerdy.”  She came to Hawaii to teach at Trinity in 1955.  In 1958 she became the first principal of Trinity.  This picture is of Wuerdy sharing a poem at the aloha for Pastor Grumm, most likely in May of 1961.  Wuerdy retired in 1986 after 30 years of teaching but continued to be a part of the educational ministry at Trinity church and school.  The school’s library and computer lab is dedicated to her as the Wuerdeman Resource Center and has be remodeled by the PTT (Parents and Teachers of Trinity) over the last two years with new computers, windows treatments, paint, carpet, bookshelves and books.  Wuerdy remained a member of Trinity Lutheran Church until her death at age 91.

Lily Wuerdeman shares a poem at Pastor Grumm's aloha (1961)

O God of grace and mercy, we give thanks for Your loving-kindness shown to Lily Wuerdeman and to all Your servants who, having finished their course in faith, now rest from their labors.  Grant that we also may be faithful unto death and receive the crown of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Lord God, our shepherd, You gather the lambs of Your flock into the arms of Your mercy and bring them home.  Comfort us with the certain hope of the resurrection to everlasting life and a joyful reunion with those we love who have died in the faith; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen

Lily Wuerdeman’s memorial service will be Sunday, November 27th, 3:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran.  Memorials dedicated to the memory of Lily Wuerdeman may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church and School, 1611 California Ave.  Wahiawa, HI 96786
